GAIN Foresight September 1985

Description

Gay Association in Newfoundland monthly newsletter. Reports that the Memorial University of Newfoundland Film Society held a screening of The Times of Harvey Milk, considered to be “the most important gay film of the year”, on September 27th. AIDS Night was to be held on October 5th, co-organized by GAIN and Katz bar, to raise money and distribute informational pamphlets and books to the gay community and to other Atlantic Canadian lesbian/gay groups. The newsletter also reports that GAIN planned on starting a library with literature, political briefs, articles, and educational material, and noted that they were looking for a librarian. On August 26th, 1985, the Sub-Committee on Equality Rights held proceedings at the Holiday Inn; GAIN presented a 14-page brief and Wally Upward held interviews with NTV, CBC, Oz FM, VOCM and The Evening Telegram. Finally, it notes that GAIN was looking to have lesbians play a larger role in the newsletter.
