Text

Pitsfield, Mass, U.S.A. June 10.1902
To the heir of C.H. Danielle, Octagon Castle, St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Dear Sir,
I read in New York Sunday American and Journal of June 1sr that Prof. Danielle died May 1st and all about the funeral, the Octagon Castle, etc. The paper had it all pictured out mortuary chamber, funeral procession and all. It mentioned a young man adopted as his son by the name of Brazil. I knew Prof. Danielle well, and I am anxious to know his real true name; when and where from. He once told me that “Danielle” was his stage name. Will you still continue the Octagon Castle as a hotel?
I hope you will write me anything of interest. Do you know where his sister Mrs. Octagon is now living?

Kindly answer.

Very respecfully,

CH. Waugh
